I had some repair done to my computer and had to reinstall Microsoft Outlook
when I got my computer back. I lost all email from my inbox when I did that;
is there any way to retreive that email?

You need to ask the person who did your epair EXACTLY what they did....
>I lost all email from my inbox when I did that;

depends on the answer to the above....

Well just "rebooting" should a) not have affected ANY application and b)
should not have removed any data.
Are you SURE he "rebooted" (rebooting means to close down and re-start
Windows) or did he re-INSTALL Windows? If the latter then that is a totally
different kettle of fish to just rebooting.
You need to be very sure as to what EXACTLY he did.
If he reinstalled Windows, then it's highly probable that your pst file
containing all your email is gone, unless you have a backup copy.
If not, then the pst file should still be on your HDD somewhere.

My error in wording...he did re INSTALL windows. I will look for the pst
file you are talking about.
Anything else you can think of sure would be helpful.
Thanks

the default location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\{Your User Name}\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
You need to enable hidden and system files in Explorer.
if there's nothing there, than I'm afraid you are out of luck, unless you
have a backup copy.

Thanks so much for your help.
I hope it's there, cause I didn't back it up...didn't think I would lose my
email.

I currently have Outlook 2002 installed and am using Windows XP.
I have a compuserve email account and I've setup an imap account with
Outlook to have all email received from my compuserve email account forwarded
to Outlook, which I hope will enable me to send and receive email from
Outlook.
This hasn't been very successful.
The following is exactly what I've done to setup this imap account in Outlook:
1. USER INFO: Filled in my name and the compuserve email account.
2. SERVER INFO: IMAP used imap.cs.com, SMTP used smtp.cs.com
3. LOGON INFO: used logon name for when loggin on compuserve email along
with the password.
4. Checked, Remember password.
5. Checked, Log on using secured password authentication, (SPA).
6. Clicked on More Settings tab and then clicked on Outgoing Server tab and
then checked My Outgoing Server (smtp) requires authentication. Also made
sure Used Same Settings as My Incoming Mail Server.
7. Clicked CONNECTION tab and made sure Connect Using my Local Area Network
(LAN) was checked.
8. Clicked ADVANCE tab and set the Incoming Server to 143 and Outgoing
Server to 25. Set the Server Timeouts to 3 minutes.
After doing all this, Outlook continually requests a password even though it
has been loaded in the password screen.
Additionally, when the password request screen pops ups it asks if you want
to remember password. I've checked this box and it repeated asks for this.
Do you have any solutions for this situation?
