I have a user that never set her correct time zone on her computer from last
year.  She recently bouhgt a Palm Pilot and had someone (not a tech person
but a teacher) connect it and synch it with our exchange server.  She called
me today because her calendar is 1 hour off on her computer.  I told her to
print out a hard copy of her calendar, and run the Time Zone data update
tool.  Everything appeared to be correct, so she tried the Palm to synch but
did not change the settings that PC overrides Handheld and instead it went
both ways and now she has multiple accounts of each meetings on both her PC
adn her Palm.  I told her to use the hard copy of the calendar to delete the
appointments that were wrong and she did not print out a hard copy. (SIGH)
She now wants me to obtain and install a back up of her calendar from our
exchange server, which we use Symantec enterprise vault.

Now for my questions:  if Symantec vault backs up her email and is
searchable as I have been told, doe sthis mean that ONLY email is backed up
and not appointments and calendar settings?

What is the easiest way to "fix" the problem?  I think if I can obtain her
backup, then wipe the Palm - fix her outlook adn her set it up to synch again
is the only answer, I hope I am wrong..................

Sync issues are totally the purview of the sync software.  Outlook does not
particpate in the sync except as the data repository.  As for the time zone,
make sure you've applied the DST patches for Windows, Outlook, and whatever
may exist for your PDA.  Make sure the PDA, WIndows, and Outlook all agree
on time zone and DST settings.

You'll have to ask Symantec about that.

I would think you'd be able to remove the entries from the Palm and sync
again, repopulating it with data from Outlook, but consult the sync software
docs.
