I am sharing another user's contacts and want to use the shared addresses to
insert in Word.  When I press the "insert address book" icon I cannot access
the shared address contacts.  I only see my personal contacts or the Global
Addess Book.

Any idea if a shared contact list from Outlook can be used in Word?

You must first add the additional Contact folder to you own Address Book.
