cannot be displayed. Contact your Administrator. I can open these attachments

Would you happen to have Google Desktop Search installed? An earlier version
of it had this problem. You can upgrade to the latest version or remove the
integration with Outlook.

No I haven't loaded Google desktop but when I added Office XP SP1 update to
be able to use the SSL function on my Service providers DSL site. things
changed. I uninstalled and reloaded Office XP 2002 but I don't think it was a
clean reload because all my settings seemed to remain the same. I'm very
frustrated and it doesn't seem like Microsoft supports Office XP 2002 anymore.

Office XP/2002 is an older version of Outlook. Mainstream support from
Microsoft has ended but there is currently extended support. Taken from
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifeoffice:

Office XP – Microsoft will continue to offer mainstream support for Office
XP through July 11, 2006. The extended support period for Office XP will last
from July 12, 2006 through July 12, 2011.

Did you verify with your provider that they require SSL in order to pull
your email using Outlook?

I just disabled the SSL and got a response from ATT.yahoo to enable it
because it was unsecure.

You should verify with your ISP by checking their website for the pop and
smtp settings.

Yes I get my mail fine as long as there is no *.msg attachment to open. I can
send & receive all other e-mail. The envelope symbol on the attachment line
is yellow now instead of white as it used to be.

Close Outlook. Search for the frmcache.dat file. Rename it. Open Outlook.
The file may be hidden so when you do your search, make sure you unhide
hidden files and folders. Also enable the view of file extensions for known
file types.
