in outlook express one can both move or just copy a msg to a folder .
Outlook only seems to offer move and not copy.
copying leaves the msg in the inbox as well as in a folder.

Right-click and drag the message or select the message and click Edit>Copy
to Folder.

I like this one, which works in almost every application: Press ctrl while
you left click and drag the item.
