Backing Up Text of E-mails Without Attachments

I backup my e-mails using the backup feature in XP.  But the e-mails contain
attachments, and as a result, the backup files are huge.

Is there some way of backup up just the text of the e-mails without removing
the attachments from the e-mails?  I don't want to remove the attachments
from the e-mail, since I may latter want to look at the attachments.

there are third party utilities that allow you to store the attachment
outside the data file, whilst maintaing a link to the msg
slipstick.com has several avilable for trial
