I have this same problem on both my desktop and my laptop. Both are running
Vista and Office 2007. Desktop has 64-bit version of Vista. Laptop has 32-bit
version. What seems to happen is that from my Inbox I enter a Search item,
the results come up quickly, but if I click one of the results messages
Outlook hangs. If I try to close Outlook I am offered a window to Restart.
Often when Outlook restarts the reading pane is shut down. Anyone have any
ideas as to what's going wrong. If it makes a difference, I use an interntet
based Exchange Server for my email.

Hi

I have the same issue. I have discovered what makes the issue occurs on my
computer. The issue only happens if I have the reading pane turned on and the
search result includes mails for a certain colleague. Reading his mails works
quite fine as long as I read it from the main list (no search).

I have unfortunately not discovered how to resolve the issue so I tend to
exclude his name from the search parameters. I am not sure what it is in his
emails, but I think it is something in his email signature.

Hans
