Why can't I open an attached email?

When someone sends me an email with an email as an attachment, I'm unable to
open it. Is there a setting or something I need to change?

you need to disable or uninstall google desktop search.

It's Office 07. When I uninstalled Google Desktop, I was able to open email
attachments.

When someone would send me an email, with another email as an attachement,
it did not give me an error message, but it would just not allow me to open
or preview the attached email.

The latest version of Google Desktop Search should have that issue resolved.
There was a version of it out earlier this year that caused this problem.
