View layout changing in Personal Folders Files

I have an archive PST file where my auto-archived items go, and I have
another Personal Folders File where I move mail items manually.

My problem is that Outlook (2003, on Exchange) regularly goes and
changes the folder layouts by itself: in Inbox type folders it changes
the 'From' to 'To', and 'Received' to 'Sent', and in Sent Items folders
it does the opposite.

I change it back when I have time, but about a week later it is again
back to the wrong layout.  It doesn't do it all at the same time, just
at some time this folder, then at another time that one.

I have deleted my Profile and created a new one; but that hasn't changed
anything.  I have, at an earlier time, suspected that AutoArchive does
it, but it's not related, and I cannot find any specific action that
seems to cause it.

It's getting annoying!

Any idea what could cause that, or, is there a way to save the folder
layouts for easy restore?

Recreating your profile doesn't help as view settings are stored in the
mailbox itself. Sounds like you've mixed the "Messages" and "Sent Messages"
view and then modified the settings. Reset those views back to their
original values and verify the view you are in for both the Inbox and Sent
Items folder.

To reset a view;
View->Arrange By-> Current View-> Define View-> select view-> Reset

Thank, Robert. Is there a way to create a new folder with default layout
of a 'Sent Items' folder (or an 'Inbox' folder)?  I do not mix items;
sent items are strictly in the 'Out' folder, and incoming items are in
the 'In' folder.

What further mystifies me is that this is happening on two different
Personal Folders Files.

After doing the Reset that you recommended, the view remained the same
(Inbox view instead of Sent Items view).  When I finished typing the
message below... the view was magically switched back to what I set it
to yesterday!

I think I just ought to ignore the whole thing :)

You can reset all views in Outlook (templates and all folders) by;
Start-> Run-> outlook.exe /cleanviews

Your other question; when creating a new folder it will inherit the view
settings of the parent folder.
