OL not updating NK2 file on exit - loses AutoComplete email addresses

Hi all, I have the latest Outlook 2007 but for a month have noted that
it no longer saves changes to the AutoComplete email addresses that
are held in the My Profile.nk2 file.

I believe this is because OL is not shutting down properly, however I
have closed all other tasks/services that could be using it.

If I Ctrl+Alt+Del to kill outlook.exe, then it does not save to NK2,
yet there is no other way to close OL.

At least I think that's the reason NK2 is not updating.

I did some experiments and did get Outlook to close by itself, and it
DID save NK2 changes that one time, but it has not been able to close
by itself since.

Is there a way to make saving of NK2 more regular?

No. The feature is fragile. There are a number of ways that an Outlook
profile can fail to write to the NK2 file correctly. All require a new
profile to correct or using a third party utility to restore the function.

you are correct in that its because outlook is not closing properly.
something is using it - are you using vista and the outlook sidebar gadgets?
a pda or smartphone? google desktop search?

Yep, I think it was a badly written Vista Sidebar Outlook gadget! :-S
