Do you know how to disable this annoying notification box? I have not been
able to find any help topics for this particular notification box. Thanks.

Which version of Outlook? You should find it in Tools > Options somewhere.

Its the 2003 version. When I go to Tools there is an option to see the
progress box but no option to disable it.

Tools>Send/Receive>Send/Receive Settings>Show Progress will display the
progress box and you can disable showing it there or, when it appears you
can disable it.
