We have an Outlook 2003 Client that suddenly stopped working. It would not
connect to the email server and does not go into the work off line mode even
though we changed the configuration to manually connect. As a fix Office
was uninstalled and re-installed and the problem persists. We have followed
all of the recomendations from from Technet, i.e. created a new profile,
deleted all of the .pst files and .ost files and it still will not connect
or even go into off line operation. What else is there we have missed?
What error message do you get when it tries to connect and fails?

I think I am having a similar problem. The program will not open completely.
Only the headings appear on the upper portion. The bottom view stays blank
and the program freezes. I have tryied the uninstall and that does not solve
the problem either.

Glen,
Thx for replying. I do not get an error message at all. It just locks up
with the hour glass constantly on. I really don't know what's going on here?
Any idea?

Unable to open your default email folders. You must connect to your
Microsoft Exchange Server Computer with the current profile before you can
syncronize your folder with your offline folder file.
Thanks,

Are you using an Alias name for the exchange server? Try and change the
profile to use the exchange server's FQDN in which the mailbox resides on.
This could be related to a global catalog issue, but let's try this first.

Yes we are using the FQDN and the only problem is on just this one desktop.

Excellent.
When you go to the ProfileMaker and enter the Exchange server name , does
the name ofthe user get underlined? I am assuming you have also tried a test
profile too.
What are the results? :)

Yes it underlines the username. We have tried a test profile.

How does Outlook behave with:
Outlook.exe /safe:2

Outlook did not recognize /safe:2. we are going to try /safe as soon as we
can contact the user.

Hello,
How did this switch work, or did you find another solution?

The user is on travel and we have not been able to connect to him. I think
I understand the switch now and we are still waiting to try it.
We appreciate you help and will get back to you as soon as we can connect
with the user.
