I have 1 user that is missing all the text in their email except for 1
letter. This is not every email just a few. Two weeks ago they showed me one
email with this issue the email was about two weeks old. Today they showed me
two email back from 8/2007. All three had only 1 letter in the entire body.
Is there anything I can do here to troublshoot this issue? The mailbox is on
exchange 2007 sp1. they were migrated using the 2007 ESM from exchange 2003
sp2.

ALSO - they are running outlook 2003, NOT in cached mode.

Hi SJMP,

First, please go to the OWA interface to see if you can view the text in the specific emails. If the mail shows up correct on OWA and Outlook
2003 cannot view the text, there should something wrong in Outlook. If the same issue occurs on OWA, it is mostly caused that the messages
were corrupted or there is something wrong in the user's mailbox.

If the issue only occurs in Outlook 2003 and it works fine on OWA, follow the steps below to see if it works.

#1
=============
Save the specific email as a *.msg file. And then open the *.msg file to see if it works.

#2 come into Outlook cleanviews mode to test the issue
=============
1.    Exit outlook.
2.    Click Start > Run > type outlook /cleanviews, click OK.
3.    View the problematic email. What is the result?

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin

Emaily,

OWA shows the same thing. Just the first letter of the email body.

I logged on to another machine with the users mailbox and saw the same
problem. I then saved the message as a msg file. When I open that saved
message I can view the entire body of the email.

ALSO Running Cleanviews - does not fix the problem.

Hi SJMP,

As the issue also occurs in OWA, the issue is not related to the Outlook program itself. It is mostly caused that the messages
were corrupted or there is something wrong in the user's mailbox. The troubleshooting steps in Outlook (such as outlook cleanviews mode) will
not fix the issue.

Please recreate the user's mailbox to fix the issue. To temp workaround it, please save the message as *.msg and view the contents.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Emily Lin,
