When I delete a message, Outlook takes me back to the in-box.  Instead, I
would prefer that when I delete a message, Outlook automatically opens the
next message in my in-box.

I can't find anything in "Options" that will allow me to configure Outlook
this way.  How can I accomplish this?

Look a bit harder;
Tools-> Options-> Email Options-> option at the top
