I have Outlook Express as part of Windows.
Through my employer, I obtained Office XP Professional.
Everything functions, except Outlook.
I cannot open Outlook, but I still can use Outlook Express.
Help!

what happens when you try?  did you create a profile? If not, go to Control
panel, mail and set one up.

Thanks very much for responding.
Nothing happens when I attempt to open Outlook (other than the little
hourglass symbol, which quickly vanishes).
I forgot to specify- Windows XP Professional (not my claim !)
                           Office XP Professional (ditto) 2002
                           Post SP3 Update 2006
Does your question refer to "Add a new email account" or "View or change
existing email accounts"?
Both of which I was scared of fooling with.
I did try switching Internet Properties from Outlook Express to Microsoft
Outlook in Programs, Internet Properties.
Many thanks.

In Control panel, mail - show profiles.  Click Add and set up your acct. See
if it works.

Okay.
If I try that, do I use all the same information currently on my Outlook
Express account?
Thanks very much.

Again, if I do that, since the info is identical to an existing email account
(in Outlook Express), won't it be rejected?
Thanks.

Also, the error prompt I receive when I attempt to go to Outlook is:

"Unable to open your default email folders."

And of course, thanks again !

I still cannot manage to change from Outlook Express to Outlook.
The only instructions I can find involve Import to Outlook, but I can't do
that because I remain unable to open Outlook at all -
(error prompt: "Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Unable to display the
related folder or item. Could not open the item. Try again.")
Everything else in Office works perfectly (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

I have:
Windows XP Professional (+ service packs 2 & 3)
Office XP Professional Version 2002 (+ Post-SP3 Update)
