All of a sudden, the word "hyperlink" is showing  up in all my email
messages, whether I create new, or forward a message.  I have OUtlook 2003,
Windows XP, and OUtlook is using Word as my email editor

Open Word, go to the Tools menu > Options command and check if the option to
show Field Codes is selected.

show Field Codes is not checked.  Even when I forward an email that has
hyperlinks in it, everything gets converted so all the links are displayed
instead of the orginal layout.  This only happens if I use Word as my email
editor, if I turn that off, everything is ok.  I have always used word as my
editor, this just started recently

Press Alt+F9. Does that toggle them off and on?

No, that didn't work.  I keep thinking it must be a setting in Word, but I
haven't a clue what it could be!
