How do I save a Word 2007 document as a text file?

I also can't seem to save a Word doc as another name...

The Office button is a circle in the upper left corner.  Click it to get a
menu similar to the old File menu.  To save as a different file type or with
a different file name, click Save as:

You should be able to save with *any* legal name provided you put quotes
around the name, otherwise it uses the default extension for the file type
you are saving as.
