Is there a really detailed MVP essay/link on how outline view works, with all
its shortcuts and features? in2 2003 and also 2007? thanks

See http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/UsingOLView.htm. Except for how you
get to the view (click the button in the status bar, or the Outline button on
the View ribbon) and the buttons (there's an Outlining ribbon instead of a
toolbar), the feature hasn't changed much.

Thanks for both posts. I have now read this link, but it seems introductory.
Are there other more detailed discussions of practical ways to use outline
view? Thanks, J

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of extensive discussion. You can look
at what turns up at
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=word+%22outline+view%22. For example,
http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=404839&seqNum=2 and
http://www.infopackets.com/channels/en/windows/carols_corner_office/2007/2007011
9_working_in_outline_view_ms_word.htm

may add a few bits of knowledge.

I've also checked a couple of the big books about Office, and they don't give
outline view any more space than the web articles do.
