When I make a numbered list in MS Word, my lists often have more than 9
items which is why I prefer my "number position" to be right-aligned.  The
default setting in Word is left-aligned so that I have to change the number
position and the indent each time I create a new Word document.

Font settings in Word can be saved as the default setting but don't know how
to do the same for numbered lists.  Is there a way to save a customized
numbered list setting as the default?

Set up the list with paragraph styles, as described at
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html. In the
example, heading styles are being used, but if you are not trying to number
your headings, create the numbering with non-heading styles.
