Hello.

I'm using Office 2003.

Is there a way to disable the Getting Started menu so that it does not
appear upon an Office program's startup--particularly Word 2003?  If
so, what is the procedure?  Thank you.  Jack Danniel

There's a setting for this in the UI, but if that doesn't work, get the Task
Pane Controller from

Thanks, Suzanne.

I have TweakUI.  Where is the setting for it, specifically?  I see
there is a controller for Word and one for Excel.  Does the UI setting
nuke all of the panes in all Office programs?  Thank you.

Jack

It has nothing to do with TweakUI, this is a UI macro specifically for
controlling the TaskPane in Word. Just follow the link.

I don't have Word 2003 installed yet, but I believe there is a setting
either in Tools | Options | View or in Tools | Customize | Options that
controls it.

It's in Tools | Options | View, in the upper left corner: "Startup
Task Pane".

There is indeed, but it is not 100% reliable (depending presumably on what
else there is on the PC). The task pane controller may still be necessary.

Very good...two options, one built into Word, one a freeware utility.
Thank you for replying, everyone.  Jd
