I'm not a new user, but I couldn't find a more specifici newsgroup in which
to ask this question.  In Word 2002/XP, I somehow managed to set the units
of measure on the horizontal ruler to "ch" (characters?).  The ruler shows
marks like this:
2 4 6 8 10 12 (and so on)

The units of measure setting under Tools|Options|General is set to "Inches."
I have tried resetting it repeatedly, but it has no effect on the setting on
the ruler display.  I cannot find the setting to change this.  The ruler and
the associated Tabs dialog box both show the "ch" unit of measure.  Does
anyone know how to change this back to inches?

Did you ever find out how to change the display of the ruler?  I am not a new user of microsoft products but this
has me stumped.
