Using Word 2000. When I go to "insert" then "picture" I get about 35 or
more instances of "clip collection" before I finally can scroll down to
the "from file" or "clip art" etc. choices. I usually am looking for
something in a file on my computer to add to a document. All of the
clip collections point to the same place (items that are stored on the
hard copy and need a disc inserted to access). I have completely
uninstalled and reinstalled also. Ideally, I'd like to have 1 instance
of "clip collection" to choose from but I'd be willing to give it up
completely as one of the choices if anyone knows how to get rid of the
extras or delete it completely! Thanks!

This is a problem with the Works Addin for Word, You may want to remove
using ADD/Remove Programs. To get the clip collections off the menu: Tools |
Customize and drag each clip collection off the menu.

You can customize the Insert->Picture submenu, so that "From File" is
at the top of the list. To do this, choose Tools->Customize. While
this dialogue is open, on the main menu, select Insert->Picture and
drag "From File" either above "Clip Art" - or straight to the Insert
menu and place it where you want it. If you choose the latter, it
will be called "Picture..." but you can rename it: right-click, then
replace the existing name with the name of your choosing. If, when
accessing menus, you tend to use the keyboard rather than the mouse
place the ampersand (&) in front of the letter you want to use.
While you're in Tools->Customize, you might want to look at the
Options tab, and uncheck "Menus show recently used commands first",
then Word won't decide for you when you get to see which menu items!

To Paul Ballou:
Oh my gosh, I just read this post! I guess I thought I was going to ge
an email if I got a reply so figured I hadn't gotten any. Anyway, I'v
been to that customize option before but could never figure out how t
make anything happen. It's not especially intuitive there! Anyway,
finally got it and removed all of those Clip Collections except one an
didn't have to uninstall the add in, at least not yet.
Thanks so much!
