Hi!

I'm using Word 2000, and Windows 98 version 1.  I'm unable to do a Save
As in Word documents.  Can anyone help me fix this, please?

If I pull up a Word file, and then click File, Save As, nothing happens.
It doesn't pop up the browser to ask where to save the document, as it
normally would.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Mary

Are your title bar and the Taskbar button flashing? If so, it's because of a
conflict with the Norton Office Plug-in. See  "Title Bars Flash, Word
Becomes Unresponsive, or Word Cannot Close [KB 812075]" at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=812075. See also  "OFF: Latest
Information on Using Microsoft Office with the Norton Anti-Virus Microsoft
Office Plug-In" at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820

Suzanne, I have similar problem, but have NO Norton's! Recently, I've
installed Word 2000 on my Windows XP Home. With it I installed an additional
speller. Now, when I run this speller, it works fine until the end. When it
finishes to check, it starts to flash and would not close unless I hit Esc.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Suzanne, this is off the topic and I apologize, but according to the site
you just referenced:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329820

running Live Update and downloading the new version of Office Plug-in will
cure all the old problems. Is this something you would recommend? I've
already run Live Update (it's automatic) so can I now safely enable Office
Plug-in?
Is there necessarily any advantage to letting the plug-in run?

Thanks
Steve

I disabled the plug-in some time ago on general principle (makes Word slow
starting, is known to cause conflicts with everything under the sun). We are
assured by both Microsoft and Symantec that disabling the plug-in will not
compromise our virus protection provided Auto-Protect is left enabled, and
no one seems to be sure what the plug-in actually does, so why bother
enabling it?
