wierd format symbol

I have a client who recieves documents from an external
source. Once these are imported into Word, if we click on
the Show/Hide button, each sentence is ending with a
strange arrow (exactly like what is found on the Enter key
on a standard keyboard).  This obviously is referring to
some kind of line break or something, but we need to
remove it. We need to get the data to appear accross the
page, margin to margin, but I can't figure out how to
remove the marks.

Using Word 2002, Sp1
