I have my CV saved onto a floppy using microsoft works word processor which was on my PC when I bought it a t Xmas. I had a virus on my pc and had to have everything reinstalled now I cannot open the cv or even send it anywhere! I keep getting the error message that "cannot display the end users licence agreement which must be displayed and accepted before you can use the application. to display the application re-install the application"! I have tried to reinstall office 2003 and updates on the microsoft downloads but notheing seems to work. The only other disk I can re-install is the pCs restore cd which will wipe everything off my pc again. Can anyone help or advice on how I can open this cv? Thanks i'm desperate!
Hi Sharon,
I've never worked with Microsoft Works, but try this:
1. In Windows Explorer, right-click the file name
2. Point to "Open With"
3. If Microsoft Word is in the list, select it. If not, click "Choose
program" and select Word.
If Word doesn't open it, try the same procedure but using Wordpad to open
the file.

In Windows Explorer, when you click the floppy drive, does it display the
file name of the CV?

Hi, Sharon. I don't think I quite understand your question. Microsoft has a Works suite and an Office suite, both of which could be on your computer. You say you created your CV with Works, then you talk about reinstalling Office, and inbetween is something about an EULA for one of the suites. If the EULA is for Works, then you need to reinstall Works. Reinstalling Office will not fix Works. If you have Office running, you can use the Word program in Office to open the Works word processing file you created, provided that the proper text converter is installed in Word. Hope this helps.

Hi,
right I checked out what you said and I have got the works suite on my computer which apparently gets installed onto the pc when its purchased and if you use the restore disks it re-installs it all again. when my pc got the worms virus I had to basically wipe my pc of everything by using the restore cd and then put it all back on again. the trouble is that to get the works suite re-installed again would mean using the cd that restores it as this sets it up again so how do i get to where I need to type in this user licence number without wiping everything off the computer again? sorry its a bit confusing! I have just tried to open works, word, etc from my start menu and just realised that I can't open them either I get the same message!!!! Any ideas?
