I can't figure out how to EASILY change margins, stop
paragraph numbering or at least, make it listen TO ME.  It
insists on doing what it wants.  I've never seen anything
like it.  Paragraph indents, macros, margins, passwords,
OH, OH, doing a search through all files.  Impossible.
Not in WordPerfect.  You want to search through all files,
WordPerfect will do it.  Type in the name or phrase you're
looking for and within a few minutes, it finds it.  Not
Word.  I hate it.  It sucks.  The most simple, everyday
things are impossible, but I can get a WORD COUNT.  Who
the HECK EVER needs a stupid word count.  Just plain
stupid.  And yet, I admire Bill Gates.  Go figure.

Could you phrase that in the form of a question?  T

You can't blame the application for your unfamiliarity with it.  This is not
Word Perfect and it does things in an entirely different way. The program is
style based so the sooner you start to love styles the happier you will be.
Rule of thumb is that every uniquely formatted paragraph should have its own
style.

Paragraph indents - part of the style definition or format > paragraph
Macros - tools > macro
margins - file > page setup
passwords - tools > options > security
search - use Windows Explorer. It is more powerful than Word for searching
through files, but Word has search functions from the file > open dialog.
As for Word count? It is essential for those who get paid by the word eg
journalists.

>Graham - Thank you.  How nice of you to respond to my
tirade with such grace.  You, of course, are right.  I am
unfamiliar.  But very frustrated as well.  I don't
understand what you mean by that rule of thumb.  I
appreciate and will try to use your other suggestions.
Again, thank you and I apologize for sounding so rude.
