How to open Publisher documents in Word?  Is there a filter somewhere?

No. And why would you? The formatting from Publisher doesn't translate over
into Word. The best you can do (with no guarantees for the result) is a copy
and paste.

Because I no longer have Publisher.  But I do have Word.

Then there's nothing that can be done. You need Publisher to edit a
Publisher file. It's possible to export  Publisher file to a .rtf file
however you lose all formatting and graphics. Kind of defeats the purpose of
a desktop publishing program.

You *could* order the trial disk but you'd (1) have a limited time to use it
and (2) still be stuck with no formatting.
