I have unwanted lines running through a document and I don't know how to
remove them. I can upload file.

Thanks,

Bert.

It's probably the drawing grid. Display the Drawing toolbar. Click the Draw
button at the left end and select Grid. Uncheck the box for "Display
gridlines on screen".

If that isn't it, reply and describe exactly where the lines are and what
they look like, and whether they print or appear only on screen. Please
don't attach any files to the post (although if you can put the document on
a web server you can post the address here).

Without a more accurate description of the 'lines' & info about what version
of Word, this is just a a stab in the dark, but you might try turning on the
Drawing Toolbar, click the Draw Button at it's left end & select Grid. If
there is a check in the box to Display Gridlines on Screen, remove it.

They are not grid lines. Can I send you an example?

Thank you, I have tried this and the line moves. I am using W2003, the lines
are initially drawn by me (years ago), but now in several places throughout
the document seem to multiply. The main document is over 2000 pages and
contains over 8000 drawings.

If you can select and move the line, perhaps it is a drawing line and you
can just delete it? If it's a border and you remove it from one paragraph,
it will very likely jump up to the previous paragraph if you have succeeded
in applying a "bottom" margin to numerous paragraphs. If that's the case,
you'll need to keep selecting paragraphs and removing borders.

I am almost sure that it is a drawing line, becuase on each page I have
several of these lines, but in some cases they just appear out of nowhere
and I cannot remove them. shall I send you an example?
