BCM Active Sync Issue with Pocket PC (Listed by Company not Account)

Facts:
PC is running BCM with SP1
Pocket PC (HP4705) is running Windows Mobile 2003 2nd Edition Ver: 4.21.1088
Active Sync version 3.8.0

After I sync'd the Pocket PC with my BCM, when I go to view the accounts,
Pocket PC BCM gives me two options:
1. Name ... which lists all the contacts in BCM
2. Company  .... it lists a few accounts that apparently have some data in a
"company" field, which I am not aware of in BCM, there does exist a
"company" field in basic OUTLOOK

Either I have a database problem, or Pocket BCM is slightly brain damaged,
by not giving one the ability to list by "account"

Thanks for your help ... Ted

Ted,

I'm totally with you! I have the identical setup with my hx4705 and I
get axactly the same results. i can only see the name or company, no
accounts at all. And it also sems to be really, really slow, and we
have the fastest processor available today! Furthermore, I cannot add
anything to the history through my Pocket PC, all the data is
"read-only". I am glad I can access my data, but it does me little good
if I can't add a note while on the road or at a customer. Pocket BCM is
not the one that is brain dead... I think ol' Microsoft is on the right
track, but they should study ACT! a little closer because they are not
quite there yet with this software...

I do  not currently use the new Pocket PC BCM app but it is my understanding
that this Pocket PC app currently only supports the 1 way synching of the
Business Contacts Folder in BCM to this Pocket PC add-in.  Neither of the BCM
Account or Opportunity folder items currently synch with this new Pocket PC
version so for now you are "Limited" to synching only your Business Contact
records for "read-only" access on the handheld.  What you are probably seeing
with the Company vs. Contact view options on the Pocket PC are likely based
upon these 2 field values that synched over from the Business Contact record.
The Business Contact Record's Company field value is not necessarily the same
as an Account record name eventhough the Account records can be named as such
so that could confuse some folks.

Additional Comment:

I am not certain that I stated this as clearly as possible.  Eventhough the
Company name on a Business Contact Record often can also be made the same
name as an Account Record name, they don't have to be.  An Account Record
name does not automatically equal the Company name indicated on a Business
Contact Record.  This may be what makes some mistakenly believe that they are
looking at an Account record  on the Pocket PC.   Again, Account Records in
BCM do NOT currently synch to the Pocket PC.

Why does this underwhelming and frustrating limitation exist?

Only Microsoft knows!
