Been trying to install the BCM Beta after install of Office 2007, but the
installation keeps failing. Removed Office 2003 and Office 2007 to try clean
install, but no luck.
At a stand-still. Worked nice on another computer I have with nice features.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm having the same problem. It gets to the point where I can see the BCM
folders and then it fails, creates a blank Welcome message and then removes
the folders.

I was able to get it to work on another PC, but it is very old and very slow
and I need it to load on my "production" PC. What is going on after the
folders are created?

Sure, none that are meaningful. Just a terminated with critical error message
and then a try again message. No more information.

I'm having the same problem..
I installed Office 2007 pro beta2 with BCM into my labtop. But failed
to activate BCM.

'An unknown error occured while conneting to the database.'
AND
'The database 'MSSmallBusinessII' no longer shared only the database
owner may currently connect to this database.'

I was very worried when I couldn't either.  But I turned off the SQL Server
for Small Bizness and it installed fine (download Pro Plus, install, then
install Outlook with BCM).  At the end of installation it tells you to
uninstall the SQL server for MSSMALLBIZ for "security".  Can't figure out why
MS didn't tell you this first...  BTW, I turned off RSS feeds, otherwise it
is downloading feeds continuously which slows every thing down.  Cheers!

How do you turn off the SQL server?

There is an icon for it in the system tray.  Click ot open it it, select
MSSMALLBIZ and click stop.

What if you have no icon in the system tray?

Sorry, I don't know.  You could uninstall from ADD/REMOVE in Control Panel.
You have to remove anyway.  I am not an expert - I just found a way to make
it work on mine.  Cheers!

>How do you turn off the SQL server?

In Control Panel / Admin Tools / Services you will see a bunch of
services that are running, or stopped on your system. Some are set to
start auto and others manual. You can stop or start a service there.

You can also create a batch file.

I have created one that starts and another that stops a module that
ACT! uses which has to do with MSDE (SQL Service Lite) but what it
points to is specific to ACT! so you need to put the right service
name into your bat file.

Here's the one I created

net stop MSSQL$ACT7
