Record you notes in the appointment dialog and then link it to the contact.
It will then show in the history of the contact.

Deleting the Outlook appt won't delete the BCM appt activity, but BCM
will only preserve the first X number of bytes of the notes, so I'd
rec'd not deleting the original Outlook Calendar item if the notes are
important, nor if you've added attachments to it.

Okay, I can write some notes and link to contact. But how do you remove the
item from the calendar. I can't find any way that makes the appointment
"compete"? What am I missing?

To remove an item from the Outlook calendar, delete it.

Okay,
I can delete it the appointment, but if I want to keep a record of what
happened at the appointment, what is the best way to do this - a journal, a
note?
Thanks
