I am justy setting up my Outlook 2007 BCM for the first time. It's not clear
to me whether my numerous customers and potential customers should be
imported as Accounts or Business Contacts. If I import them as Business
Contacts, can I then convert them to Accounts (replete with User-Defined
fields) if they change from leads to active customers?

Hi KC,

"accounts" in BCM refer to a company, and "contact" to a person, which may
be connected to an account (company) if you wish.

As such, you should import them as Business Contacts, create the company
(accounts) they belong to, and then link your contacts to their respective
companies.

I am hoping and expecting that the next update/version of BCM will include
an option to import contacts and companies at the same time, with this link
intact, which unfortunately is not the case today. It can be done after
import by editing the database (I have done it), but it is not a trivial task.

Hope this answered your question, good luck:-)
