We have several sales reps on the road, contacting customers.  Currently,
they type out a report in Word for each customer they visit, and then email
it to the sales manager.

The sales manager would like to centralize and streamline this process,
working with a common customer database.  He would like to be able to track
what the sales reps are doing each day and what they are doing for each
customer.

I was wondering if Business Contact Manager would be helpful in this
situation.  All of the sales reps on the road have laptops that they can
connect to the internet with.  They can also connect to the company's server
via VPN tunnels.  We have a company Exchange server that they use for email.
Thanks for any advice!

Yes, BCM will work fine for this application.  The VPN connection will allow
the outside guys to use BCM's Offline database functionality.  If you have a
large database (10,000+ records), this may not work as well as you'd like,
depending on the speed of their connection and your incoming bandwidth.
But, Yes, BCM has this ability.

HTH,
Lon
