Duplicate Contacts/BCM Contacts

I started using BCM about 6 months ago. I have moved the contacts over
to BCM from my regular Outlook contacts.
I am finally happy with BCM and want to sync the data to my handheld.
How can I removed the contacts in regular outlook contacts that are
duplicates in BCM contacts?
I did not move all of my contacts over to BCM, just the ones I
regularly do business with, so I still want to sync my regular
contacts, I just don't want all the duplication.

Thanks,
Lance

Ideally, there would be a solution that would identify duplicates based on
some selected parameter(s) with the ability to merge history items to the
golden record (contact).  With the understanding that the history can be
lost, export your business contacts to CSV and open in Excel.  With 2007
there is a remove duplicates on the DATA ribbon.  Remove duplicates and
re-import contacts back into BCM.  It's not elegant or ideal, but one way to
get the job done.  Another option, which I have yet to attempt, is to use
SSIS or DTS within MS SQL.  Not very user friendly, but possible.

I have a problem with duplicates in BCM 2007 of a different type to Lance's.
I was intrigued by your solution using Excel & CSV, wonder if you can shed
some light on this one -
When I reimport a CSV file I get all accounts duplicated even though I
select "do not import duplicates". Am I missing something obvious?

You have to delete all of your information first, basically start from
scratch.

There's not a "tool" to do that, that I know of.  I suggest you keep
personal contacts in Outlook and business contacts in BCM and not have the
same ones in both places.

Lon

That is what I will start doing now, but I guess I will just have to
take to the time to get "back" to that starting point.

Thanks.
