MS Office Forum / Outlook / Business Contact Manager / March 2008Moving database from local computer to another.
First off, I have integrated BCM with Office Accounting 2008. I backed up BCM, assuming that when I back up BCM, I'm also backing up OA 2008. I then Moved the .bak file to a Windows XP SP2 machine on my LAN. I used the default SQLEXPRESS instance in Manager Express to restore that backup. I downloaded and installed BCM Database Administrator from Microsoft. I openend the program found the restored database and selected "share" to set up which users would have access to the database. When I get to the screen that is supposed to list users to give access to, I get an error saying data is null and null cannot be called. Has anyone else had this problem? I restored the integrated databse from my local machine to the XP server using the BCM Administrator tool from Microsoft. Anyway, part of the tool sets up sharing which I did and was then able to connect Office Accounting 2008 and BCM from computer 1 and computer 2 to the new database in the SQLEXPRESS instance of the server. So, now the integrated database is cetralized on the server without having to install OA 2008 or BCM on the server. > > First off, I have integrated BCM with Office Accounting 2008.
