Business Contact Manager installation nightmares!

Hi All,

This program is giving me incredible grief, but I need to install it. It
just wont install properly.

Prior to install I had a fully updated version of Outlook and Office 2003
running on the PC. I'm running XP Pro SP2. I install from the Business
Contact Manager For Microsoft Office 2003 CD and it installs version
1.0.2002.1. Looking in the Add Remove Programs it is installed as Business
Contact Manager for Outlook 2003. However it doesnt install the MSDE. I am
assuming this comes in an update? If I try to run Outlook after the initial
install it fails. Business Contact Manager has failed and I receive one of
those Send / Dont Send error messages and Outlook shuts down to the profile
selection menu. Restarting creates a new error message and so on and so
forth.

I then run the Business Contact Manager Update - For Microsoft Office
Outlook 2003. By default it changes the install path. Initially is was
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Business Contact Manager. However
the update wants to install it in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business\.
Is this normal or should I change the path? If I dont change the path it
still notes that there is an earlier version installed and that it will be
updated. It also states that it will install MSDE.

This process completes ok, however when I look at the Add Remove Programs in
Control Panel the initial install, Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003,
is removed and a new install labelled Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 with
Business Contact Manager Update appears. The version now installed is
2.0.4013.0. This contradicts the Help where it states that the successfully
installed application
should be labelled as Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003 CD 2? How do
I get to this point?

I can run through all the service packs but still never see the Business
Contact Manager Toolbar.

I can create a new database by adding a new datafile and that then provides
the BCM folder list, but still no BCM toolbar!

I am assuming that the Toolbar is part of the addin? Can someone check to
see what the add in called and I'll try to add it manually.

Anything else to help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have a resolution to my problem.  When the initial installation failed the
add-in was disabled. Re-enabling the add-in after the update from Outlook
Help > About > Disabled Items fixed it.

I hope this helps someone else. Answer found here
