I have searched the forum for this specific question but was unable to find
it.  If I have overlooked, please direct me to the soution ... thanks in
advance.

Each time I start Outlook 2007 I get the message:

------

This action cannot be completed because Business Contact Manager cannot
access the database.

Service MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ was not found on computer.

-------

After clicking the only button ... OK ... I receive a window asking me to
select or create a Business Contact Manager database.  None of the options
work (assuming b/c the service is not present) except Cancel.

This pops up every time I start Outlook and repeats four times.  It is very
annoying and I cannot find a specific article or HOWTO that says how to
reinstall the service.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have just acquired a new ThinkPad along with Office 2007 + Business
Contacts Manager - I'm having the same problem & BCM doesn't respond to
anything. I can't uninstall or reinstall and it's useless to me.  Hope
someone can offer some help.

Why can't you uninstall BCM? To reinstall you need the original disk
or a download of the BCM setup.

I don't know why it's not uninstalling; BCM shows up on all the lists of
programs (under Control Panel, in Outlook, etc.), but the first error showed
up when I tried installing the update.  I have tried everything matching my
error messages shown on Microsoft's "Troubleshoot installing BCM for Outlook
2007" (mostly which consist of going thru the Control Panel to
uninstall/reinstall) and I have tried to reinstall using the disc received
from Lenovo ... and all the logs show that configuration and removal failed
(error code 1603).  From Outlook, it says Database creation was unsuccessful,
from disc it says an external source not found.

I have exactly the same problem, search and search and cannot find a solution
- also IBM Lenovo laptop - However, I cannot find BCM on the list of programs
in add/remove otherwise I would have uninstalled it already. I dont' need
this program and it is annoying that it pops up every time I open outlook.
Someone out there must know the solution.?!

Did you install Expression recently, that seems to have hosed the SQL install
for me :-(

Hi
Try running
MsiExec.exe /X{B32C4059-6E7A-41EF-AD20-56DF1872B923}
on a command prompt.

Thanks

Hi Vinit

I share the same problem and was surfing the net for a solution. I tried you
suggestion but it came up with an error

Error 1913. Could not update the INI file C:\windows\system32\mapisvc.inf.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

As a result, I'm still stuck with the Business Contact Manager Set-up wizard
each time I launch Outlook and also unable to uninstall it.

Here's everything I've gathered over the years for when uninstalls
fail:

Hello,

I had the same problem on a new Thinkpad. What I did was download SQL 2005
Express and install it. Then when I chose to remove SQL server fro add/remove
programs it found two instances. First I removed MSSMLBIZ, then I ran the
uninstaller from add/remove programs again and uninstalled the instance for
SQL Server 2005.
First time I uninstalled SQL Server 2005 first but then the uninstaller
dissappeared from Add/remove programs so it's important to do this in the
correct order to remove the database for MSSMLBIZ (Business Contact Manager)
first.
