Outlook 2000 meeting requests received as standard email

There are several users who send meeting requests to me that are received as
email messages, and not as meeting requests. Is there some
incompaitibilities between

Outlook 2000 has a bug where meeting requests sent from later versions with
a reminder will present a text mail and not the appointment item. Have the
senders uncheck the reminder option before sending. Microsoft Support also
has a hotfix for Outlook 2000, but I don't have the link handy.
