Contact Link In Calendar

How can I embed a link to a contact in a calendar? I've got a contacts
folder and a calendar in a public folder. I want to create a bunch of
contacts and then link to them from the days on the calendar to indicate
which employee is on call for that day. Anyone do anything like this
before?

Create an event or appointment for that date and add the contacts as links
in the Contacts box at the bottom of the appointment form?
