I want to decline a meeting but still have it show in my diary as.

I want to decline a meeting but still have it show in my diary as info
without having to retype the whole thing again.  Sometimes I can't go to
meetings but like to know when they are going to be.

Then accept them as tentative and make a note to yourself that tentative
meetings are actually declines but tracked.
