ooga - 31 Mar 2005 00:43 GMT Using Outlook 2003 with Outlook Connector to synchronize to my Hotmail account, Email and contacts synch up fine, but my calendar keeps returning the error : --- Time: 3/30/2005 6:35:27 PM Error in Calendar Network operation failed ---- I have deleted most recently entered calendar items in case they were not created in a compatible way with Hotmail Calendar but to no avail. Something in the calendar must be off, but I can't figure out what. Is there a way to reset this calendar so Outlook Connector will synch up my home PC, Notebook PC, and Hotmail account?
TheWalrus - 31 Mar 2005 00:51 GMT Hi, I have the same issue has you have. It started today and Idon't know why maybe it is msn netword that is in fault. The only thing I've done different in the last couple of days are 1. Installed Yahoo Desktop Search on 1 of my pc's running Outlook Connector 2. Edited a recurring event series in the Outlook Calendar on 1 local pc that never did synch with Hotmail.
I have since deleted the recurring event on both my pc's and web-based using hotmail.com
Any similarities?

StevenA - 31 Mar 2005 01:47 GMT I am so relieved to know I am not the only one with this problem! I don't think I've changed anything since yesterday that would have this effect, but all of a sudden -- no calendar sync! Perhaps it is indeed an MSN network issue?

TheWalrus - 31 Mar 2005 03:31 GMT The only thing I did that was different is that I ask outlook to put holidays in my calender. This function add all national holidays from 2003 to 2007 but it was unable to sync with hotmail after then, on my dektop and laptop. I tried to access microsoft support but they say that my ID form Outlook connector does not grant me access to online support. Did you guys tried to contact them? I wish MS tech will see our post.

D - 31 Mar 2005 07:25 GMT I am having the same exact issue, once holidays were on, nothing worked.... I have deleted the calendar from the hotmail site, completely deleted all data files out of outlook ( after backing up ) and still nothing. View> Arrange> current view> and holidays are off, but under tools > calendar > holidays are still on... any idea how to reset outlook to the default settings? debating uninstalling and reinstalling as this program is of no use to me in this state.

TheWalrus - 31 Mar 2005 18:33 GMT I don't know if you tried it, but uninstalling office and outlook connector does not solve this issue. Is there a way to reset the calendar in hotmail?? I erased everything in hotmail with the option in calendar space management, but it does not work either... I'm getting really frustrated by this.

StevenA - 31 Mar 2005 19:35 GMT I received a response to my inquiry to Microsoft customer service, but it's a long string of suggestions to reinstall Outlook Connector etc.; the advisor didn't appear to have any knowledge of the problem, in fact the answer I was given looked very much like an automated form letter sent to anybody with any problem at all, i.e. try reinstalling the software. grrr. I'm afraid to send another inquiry as it seems I may have to pay $35 aftre I use up my two free help requests, and that's after only paying $45 for MOOL itself!

It is at http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public .outlook.calendaring&tid=026040b0-728b-4077-99da-294e03cc2223&cat=&lang=en&cr=US &sloc=en-us&p=1
I am discouraged to hear that wiping out your data and re-installing does NOT solve the problem. I use this damn thing for work and home (I bought 2 !!) This is 2 days I haven't been able to work on my "work" calendar without doing it web-based through Hotmail.
I will wait to see what MS says to Walrus and then will submit a query of my own. Does the $45 we paid not include at least 1 call to telephone support???

ooga - 31 Mar 2005 23:25 GMT > I don't know if you tried it, but uninstalling office and outlook connector > does not solve this issue. Is there a way to reset the calendar in hotmail?? Hey Walrus,
Log into your Hotmail account, hit Calendar, in the upper left go to Calendar Options, in there you will find a choice of "Calendar Storage Management" where you can delete all of your calendar items.
Although I am afraid to do this and here is why: Won't the deletion of the data be the most recent change to all the records, and therefore when the automatic Synch happens with your MOOL data on your pc and laptop, won't it Delete all those items automatically??
I have noticed when using Connector, there are no LOCAL PST files for this data so I can back up the calendar before I delete it ( I am using 2003 that came with MOOL ) Therefore there is no local backup of this data, and if the hotmail calendar which is wiped out overwrites my local machine's calendar data, then I lose everything.
Anyone else figure out a way around this? How can I backup before I wipe clean?

TheWalrus - 01 Apr 2005 07:11 GMT Yes I've tried this out... but it doesn't work. If you want to try this you can backup your outlook hotmail calendar by doing an export data to a .pst file. So for now I my web hotmail and my outlook calendar are empty but I still got a .pst backup of it. The bad news is that I am getting the same error message again. Are we going to see the end of this... I hope so!!!

[quoted text clipped - 20 lines] > > ooga ooga - 01 Apr 2005 02:13 GMT Still curious if anyone else has heard from Microsoft regarding this problem. I am a little pissed that I paid for 2 subscriptions and am currently unable to use either.
Here is what I've tried the last 2 hours of my life:
Made a clean install on a different PC of Outlook 2002 (XP). Made a clean install of Outlook Connector and began the sign in process. Got the SAME DAMN ERROR while it was DOWNLOADING all new info to this PC.
This says to me the error is at the Hotmail or MSN server.
Previously I had deleted most recently entered Calendar items. Uninstalled all holidays in the calendar options online. Uninstalled all holidats in Outlook locally.
The only operation I have not performed is a complete deletion of all online data and that is because it has all the most recent data. If I wipe it out, since my local pc's have not synched up, I will lose my data. (Have you all noticed that the new install of MOOL 2003 on the Outlook Live cd installs your hotamail account, but there are NO LOCAL PST files and NO IMPORT EXPORT options.)
Therefore, because of the I/O Limitations of MOOL 2003, there is no way to backup your data except for having it all online in your hotmail account., And since the DATA IS CORRUPTED IN THE HOTMAIL ACCOUNT, how can it be fixed without losing data.
I know that was verbose, but I want to be clear what I am trying to accomplish here since we are getting no satisfaction from the Gates family.
Any thoughts?

martyn_wynne@hotmail.com - 01 Apr 2005 11:52 GMT I too are having this problem.
I tried to get support from MS, but there interactive chat didn't work, the email form errored and there is no phone number for anything other then billing enquires.
Can't say i'm too happy, i've left grumpy feedback saying I will cancel my subsription soon if this isn't resolved.

It's a great relief, as I have to say apart from that, I was loving MOOL.
