Person's Scheduled Events not showing properly

In Outlook 2003, when adding people to a meeting....

If the person's name is just typed in - the bars showing the person's
already scheduled meeting will show randomly wrong.  (The bar will be across
some time not really scheduled and not be showing across some times actually
scheduled.)

However, if the person's name is added from the address book (instead of
just typed in...), the bars will show correctly.

And, yes, I realize the person should then just add the names from the GAL,
but...they don't wanna....

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

If they type the name in and then use Alt+K to resolve the name, does the
schedule show up correctly?
