I currently use outlook 2003 calendar at work and also at home. Am I able to
add appointments to my home one from my work one via email. e.g. have them
add when I open the email at home?

Create meetings and send the invites to your home address. I do that to add
appointments to wife's calendar all the time. Of course, you'll have to
remember to accept the invitations on the home machine (something I have to
remind my wife to do all the time)
