How do I import recurring calendar items from Excel 2003?

In Outlook, File->Import and Export->From a File. Select your Excel format.

You may first want to export a calendar event from Outlook to Excel to
compare the fields and massage your calendar items to match Outlook's
format.

I had already exported to get the file names available to import from Excel,
but there is not an option for a "recurring" appointment in the calendar. Is
there a way to import a "recurring" appointment item into Outlook from Excel?
