No, my first port of call has been microsoft, and I got re-directed here. I
have downloaded the up-grade for the software fo the phone. Sorry to be so
ignorant, but I also thought that the microsoft office was the sync software
supplier

Not necessarily. According to Sony Ericsson's web site, the P900 uses a
software program called Sony Ericsson PC Suite for syncing. The P900's OS
is Symbian OS 7.0, so it won't use either ActiveSync or Pocket Mirror. Only
ActiveSync is a Microsoft product.
