Cant share calander between outlook 2000 and 2003

I was sharing calander and able to update bosses calander but he had office
2003 installed. He does not have sharing on his outlook folders anymore. Is
the issue that we have different versions of outlook

Outlook 2003 does not support Netfolders, so yes, the different versions is
an issue.

so we will have to downgrade his version then- is that the only solution?
Also, why does it not support net folders?
