I am changing a Calendar view in Outlook and want to display "Monday" out ot
the Start date.  I tried      Weekday([Start])    but all I get is a number.
I can't find any help on how functions and formulas work.

What are you using to try to create this view? Have you tried using the
standard toolbar button to show the one day view?

I am modifying the "by Category" view using the "Define views" option.  I
want to create a column showing the day of the week, ie Monday, Tuesday, etc.
Is there no help on functions and formulas that shows example of how to use
the syntax?

Functions and formulas do not work in Outlook.  Tell us what you are trying
to do with these "functions and formulas."  (Hint- they only work in Excel.)

From the Advanced Toolbar (View/Toolbar/Advanced while viewing my Calendar)
I clicked the down arrow which changes views and chose "Define Views".  I
then clicked Modify (the "by category" view).  Under "Fields"  I clicked "New
Field".  I named the field DayofWeek, chose "formula" for Type and then
clicked "Edit".  A "Formula Field" pops up where I can click Field or
Function button.  Does this help?

Ah, I see now.  As I don't use that option (never even knew it existed!) I
will leave the answer to someone who is more experienced with customizing
views using programming, such as Sue Mosher or Diane Poremsky.

Perhaps one of them could assist you but I tend to doubt that you can add
that one to your Category view.

Well perhaps the same formula in Excel would work here?  I don't have Excel
on this computer so I can't look it up.  Perhaps someone could let me try
their code from Excel.  I would think you could hand code it if there were no
function for it but I don't know where to look for documentation for formulas
and functions in Outlook.  Would it work the same as a Lotus 1-2-3 formula?
They document their formulas really well in their help.

I tend to doubt it would work as Lotus.

Well, you are right there.  I tried it.  Any suggestions?
