calendar defaults

when I change default appointent length from 60 to 30 minutes in daily view
shows full 24 hours not 8am to 7pm as set in calendar options

Is 8A-7P shown in a different color? Normally Outlook will show as much of
the day as possible with the preference given to the work day portion. If
more can be shown the work day is shaded differently
