Can you 'open a shared calendar' and select a group which may contain about
10 users?  Would this display 10 user's calendars plus one for mine?
(Assuming that there is no public calandar for the group and this group does
not have a mailbox.)  Adding 10 users one by one is the only way?

Correct. That's the only way.
