How do I set 2 active calendars

How can I set-up 2 different calendars in Outlook 2003, I want to set up one
for personal appointments and another for scheduling equipment for
maintenance.  
When I set up the second calendar set a reminder I get a notice that the
reminder won't work because the new calendar isn't the active calendar.
